What is BeenVerified

BeenVerified is a background-check and people-search site that compiles public records, court filings, and broker data into a searchable profile per person. It's owned by The Lifetime Value Co. (LTVco), a New York-based company whose other people-search brands include PeopleLooker, NeighborWho, Ownerly, PeopleSmart, NumberGuru, ReversePhone, and Bumper.

BeenVerified is not part of the PeopleConnect family — a separate company that owns Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, and several other sites — a distinction worth knowing since it means opting out of one family doesn't touch the other.

How to remove yourself

These steps follow BeenVerified's own opt-out page, checked in October 2026.

    Search for your record

    Go to beenverified.com/svc/optout/search/optouts and enter your first and last name (the state menu defaults to "All"). A short Cloudflare check runs before the results appear.

    Select your record

    Choose the record that matches you. BeenVerified then emails you a verification link. It says it uses that email address only to verify your request.

    Confirm by email

    Click the link in the verification email. BeenVerified's instructions don't ask for ID or documentation. After you verify, it sends a second email confirming the record was opted out.

    Check that it's gone

    Search your name again after the removal has had time to refresh. If the record still shows, BeenVerified suggests clearing your browser history in case an old copy is cached.

BeenVerified says removal takes effect the next time its servers refresh, which in most cases is about 24 hours after you receive the confirmation email. It's a stated expectation, not a guarantee.

If a listing reappears

BeenVerified's own FAQ says this can happen. It updates its records from several public and private databases, and a new record that differs enough from your old one (a different spelling, initials, or address, for example) may not be matched to it, so a separate record can appear.

BeenVerified says its online process removes one record per request, and that it can only remove records from its own site, so the same details may still appear elsewhere.

If you find several records or one comes back, it invites you to email [email protected]. It also says you never have to pay to remove your own record.

Does BeenVerified charge a fee to opt out?

No. BeenVerified states you never have to pay to remove your own record, and you don't need to be a member.

Do I need to provide ID to opt out?

BeenVerified's own instructions don't ask for ID or documentation. You search for your record, select it, and confirm through a link it emails you. An email address is the only personal detail it asks you to submit for the standard process.

How long does a BeenVerified opt-out take?

BeenVerified says that once you receive its confirmation email, the removal shows up the next time its servers refresh, in most cases about 24 hours. If the record still appears, it suggests clearing your browser history, or emailing [email protected].

Do I pay if my listing isn't removed?
