What is Intelius
Intelius is a background-check and people-search site owned by PeopleConnect, Inc., a Seattle-based company.
PeopleConnect also owns TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, US Search, Classmates, ZabaSearch, and OmniWatch, along with smaller sites like Addresses.com and PeopleLookup. Notably, BeenVerified is a separate company (owned by The Lifetime Value Co.) and not part of this family, and TruePeopleSearch is not in this family either — worth knowing so you don't assume one opt-out covers sites it doesn't.
How to remove yourself
These steps follow PeopleConnect's own Suppression Center, checked in October 2026. It's a free tool that covers the people-search sites PeopleConnect names, including Intelius, TruthFinder, InstantCheckmate and USSearch.

Start with your email
Open the Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us, enter your email, agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and click the verification link emailed to you. The tool is free.

Enter your date of birth
Enter your birthdate (MM/DD/YYYY) and tick the box confirming it is correct. PeopleConnect warns that once it's saved, it can't be changed. It says the birthdate is used to match the right records to you.

Enter your legal name
Enter your first, middle and last name and confirm it is your legal name. You can add other legal or informal names you've used. PeopleConnect uses your names together with your birthdate to find records about you.

Select your matching record
Choose the record that describes you. Each one lists locations, partly hidden email addresses and partly hidden phone numbers. If none is you, PeopleConnect says the record may be missing or incorrect, or may already have been suppressed by someone using a different email, and points you to its identity editor.

Verify your identity
Pick one of the phone numbers or email addresses on the record that you control. PeopleConnect uses it to make sure you are the person in the record. If you can't verify this way, it says to contact its customer care team.
Notice: Intelius usually isn't the only place this kind of information about you shows up — the same details often turn up on other data-broker and people-search sites too. There's a free way to check the rest rather than searching each site individually.
Why canceling a subscription isn't enough
A common and costly mistake is assuming that canceling a paid Intelius background-check subscription removes your listing. It doesn't — canceling only stops Intelius from charging your card.
Your record stays in the database, fully searchable by anyone, because the listing and the subscription are two separate things. Suppression through the opt-out portal above is the only way to actually take the listing down.
The Suppression Center doesn't state a processing time or say whether a suppressed report can come back. Search your name again after the request has been processed.

Common questions
Does opting out of Intelius also remove me from TruthFinder or Instant Checkmate?
Partly. PeopleConnect's Suppression Center says it covers the people-search sites in the PeopleConnect family, and it names TruthFinder, InstantCheckmate, Intelius and USSearch. It says it does not apply to the user data collected by those sites, or to other sites in the family such as Classmates.com, which have to be handled on their own. BeenVerified and TruePeopleSearch are separate companies outside the family, so each needs its own opt-out.
Does suppression remove all of my information from Intelius?
No. According to the Suppression Center, suppressing your report means a report with your information won't be provided when someone searches you by name on those sites. It says this doesn't affect whether the information is available from other sources, and that your name and details may still appear in connection with some features, such as phone, address or email reports, or registered sex offender lists. It tells you to contact PeopleConnect if you still see data about you after using the tool.
Is there a separate route for judges, law enforcement and other protected people?
Yes. The Suppression Center says active or retired federal, state or municipal judges, law enforcement officers, public officials and other covered persons in a state with an applicable law can email PeopleConnect instead. You give your name, date of birth, city and state, phone number, email, the law you rely on and your protected status. PeopleConnect says it may decline a request it can't tie to a specific law, and that you can appeal a denial at [email protected].
How do I contact Intelius directly?
Per Intelius's own California data broker registration, consumers can submit CCPA-related requests by calling (888) 245-1655 or emailing [email protected]. For routine suppression requests, the primary channel is the shared opt-out portal at suppression.peopleconnect.us rather than a phone call.
Can a friend, relative, or a service like Removacy submit my Intelius request for me?
Yes, as an authorized agent — but PeopleConnect's own privacy policy requires real documentation before it will act on that: either a written authorization from you (with your full name, address, phone number, and email) or a valid power of attorney. It also independently re-verifies the agent's authority by contacting you directly at your own email address, not just trusting the paperwork submitted.
Do I pay if my listing isn't removed?
Opting out yourself is free. Our removal services are no-removal, no-fee: you're invoiced only once we achieve the removal defined in your Service Agreement. Search suppression is billed for the work performed.
