How to Remove Your Information from US Search
US Search is one of the oldest names in people search, with its own contact page and privacy policy — but the record behind your listing is processed through the same PeopleConnect suppression system as its sister sites. Here's how the two fit together, and what actually gets a listing taken down.
Quick overview
- US Search is legally owned by Intelius, LLC, part of the PeopleConnect family — see how it fits together.
- Its own contact page exists, but removal actually runs through a shared suppression system — here's the process.
- Canceling a membership does not remove your listing — here's why, plus a history worth knowing.
- Industry reviews trace US Search's origins back to 1994, making it one of the oldest people-search brands still operating — predating most of its current PeopleConnect sister sites. More about the company.
What is US Search
US Search is a people-search and background-check site whose own privacy policy names its owner directly: "the information processing practices of Intelius, LLC, the owner of US Search." That makes US Search part of the same PeopleConnect, Inc. family as Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Classmates, ZabaSearch, and OmniWatch — all sharing one suppression system behind the scenes.
Several industry reviews trace the US Search brand back to 1994, which would put it among the oldest people-search sites still running today, well before most of its current PeopleConnect sister sites existed. US Search hasn't confirmed that date itself, so we're flagging it as a secondary-source estimate rather than a verified fact — but it's a useful reason the brand name may feel more familiar, or more entrenched, than some of the newer sites in the same family.
How to remove yourself
US Search does keep its own contact channels, but the record deletion itself is processed through a US Search-branded version of the shared PeopleConnect suppression portal, so the underlying steps match the rest of the family.
- 1
Start a suppression request
Enter your email at the US Search-branded PeopleConnect suppression portal and click the verification link it sends you.
- 2
Identify your record
Enter your date of birth and full legal name, then find and select your matching record or records.
- 3
Verify and delete
Confirm your identity with a code sent to your email or phone, request deletion, then confirm again through the link emailed to you.
US Search also lists its own direct contact points in its privacy policy: email [email protected], phone (888) 712-0108 (Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm PT), or by mail to US Search, Attn: Privacy, 2261 Market Street, STE 46167, San Francisco, CA 94114.
Its site also links to its own Privacy Center page — but third-party trackers report that page's older standalone opt-out form stopped functioning some years back, with the PeopleConnect suppression flow now doing the actual work. For the fuller explanation of how the whole PeopleConnect family and its shared portal fit together, see our Intelius removal guide.
Why canceling a subscription isn't enough
US Search's own privacy policy separates "Account Deactivation" — done through your account's membership settings — from privacy and opt-out requests, which are handled through its Privacy Center instead. That's a first-party confirmation that canceling a paid subscription only stops billing; it does not take your listing down.
US Search also has a history worth knowing about: a paid "PrivacyLock" add-on that promised to "lock" consumer records and keep them out of search results didn't reliably do that — records could still surface through reverse searches, real-estate lookups, or as an "associate" on someone else's record, and new records generated after an address change weren't covered.
That history is part of why we don't treat "my account is canceled" or "I filled out a contact form" as proof of removal — for US Search, as for the rest of the PeopleConnect family, only a completed suppression request does that, and even then, third-party trackers report listings can resurface later, something PeopleConnect hasn't officially addressed.
Common questions
Who owns US Search?
US Search's own privacy policy states it is owned by Intelius, LLC, which is itself part of the PeopleConnect, Inc. family — the same group behind TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Classmates, ZabaSearch, and OmniWatch. All of these share one unified suppression portal.
If I cancel my US Search membership, does that remove my listing?
No. US Search's own privacy policy treats "Account Deactivation" — done through your account's membership settings — as separate from privacy and opt-out requests, which go through its Privacy Center instead. Canceling a paid subscription only stops billing; it doesn't take your listing down. Only a completed suppression request through the shared PeopleConnect portal actually removes the record.
Does US Search have its own removal page, or is it the same as Intelius?
US Search lists its own contact details ([email protected] and a dedicated phone line) and links to a Privacy Center on its own domain. Functionally, though, the request is processed through the same PeopleConnect suppression system used across the family, reached at a US Search-branded version of that shared portal.
How fast does PeopleConnect actually process a US Search deletion request?
Faster than most brokers report for themselves — PeopleConnect's own California-mandated disclosure shows a median response time of under 1 day for deletion requests and under 7 days for correction requests, across the shared portal US Search runs through.

We know a company's own contact page isn't the same as a completed suppression request — we file the actual removal through the system that governs the record, across the whole PeopleConnect family, and verify each one took effect rather than assuming a form submission or a canceled membership did the job.
